Brand New Day

Well the people that know me know that I was not too keen about MJ and Peter splitting up, I know they are just fictional characters but just thinking about it makes me sick and here is why:

They should be together you don’t just get married and forget about all the good times in blink of an eye like it did not happen, the idea that in Peter’s mind he was just living with MJ all these years and are now split up just does not go well with me. Why would a man so family centered just be shaking up with a girl of his dreams for many years and not propose to her? (In the current Spider-Man story line Peter Parker made a deal with the Devil to save his Aunt from dying, but the catch was that he forgot his marriage and his then public identity was forgotten by everyone in his world) it just does not sit well with me.

As far as Brand New Day the current storyline in the main Spider-Man books, they are not bad but it does feel like a lot of the things in BND have been done before, as much as I was not a fan of parts of JMS run, I felt that the character made more sense (although I still don’t like the totem storyline or Sins past) but JMS made the dynamics between Peter and MJ the best for a married couple in comic books, or at least the best ones for Spider-Man it is a shame that all of that is now gone (well at least as gone as ones gets in comics) for BND they brought back to life Harry Osborn but it feels like the character is just off, I feel bad that Harry is not the character the he grew up to be once upon a time, how does all of this fit with all the old comics is just a mystery and that is what I think bothers me the most.

I am still skimming thru the book at my local comic book store but until I don’t see something that grabs me I don’t think I will be paying for the book, and that is a shame because a business should have people buying their books not just judging them online

JMS is one reason why I left Spidey, but what Joe Q has done to Spidey is even worse.

Care to elaborate?

JMS had dabbled too much in magic for my tastes for a Spider-man title. It just didn't feel right to me and ultimately lead to me leaving to book.

Now what Joe Q has done with Mephisto in regards to MJ and the secret identity, it cheapened his reveal in Civil War and proved that CIVIL WAR reveal was a lousy stunt.

I can see what they are trying to do in regards to the MJ/Peter dynamic. It's kind of the same problem with Superman and Lois being married. Still, on how they did it was cheap IMO.

Ahh so you have the same problem I have. I was not a big fan of the Magic but one thing I did like is that there was progress as far as the character was concern. They felt more human than they have for a long time. I mean I just read the BND stuff and the one thing that really jumped at me was the way Aunt May was acting… it was like reading an old TPB or something, Aunt May is no longer…Relevant or interesting (unlike how she was with JMS)

That is one thing I'll give JMS credit for. Making Aunt May interesting. By the way, I'm KreeCapt on the CMMB
